Power-hungry politicians using Boko Haram to bring down Tinubu’s govt: Orji Kalu

Orji Uzor Kalu, the Senate chief whip, has accused some power-hungry politicians of being the brains behind the Boko Haram resurgence to destabilise President Bola Tinubu’s government.
The former Abia governor stated this in an interview aired on Channels TV on Monday.
“The political class is behind Boko Haram. They are using terrorism as a tool to fight Tinubu, just like they did with past administrations,” Mr Kalu said.
The former Abia governor did not mention the names of the politicians but insisted that the political class is fuelling the Boko Haram resurgence to oust Mr Tinubu from office and grab power.
“People in the political class are the ones fuelling Boko Haram. This is a political war. Some of them aren’t after money—they’re after power. They want to tear down the system just to grab control, and that’s not how power should be acquired,” Mr Kalu said.
He added, “The insecurity in Nigeria is politically induced. These individuals—politicians, businessmen, civil servants—are not just seeking financial gain. They’re looking to hijack political power.”
Mr Kalu’s claim echoed Governor Babagana Zulum’s recent allegation that politicians and Nigerian soldiers aided Boko Haram.
