More classified documents numbering five pages have been found yet again at President Joe Biden’s Delaware abode, the White House announced on Saturday.

This brings the number of classified documents found in possession of Mr Biden to six pages.

A person familiar with the matter told The New York Times that the additional files were discovered hours after the White House made a statement in regard to the earlier one page discovery.

The White House also added that officials from the Department of Justice had gone to retrieve the documents in company of White House lawyers who will oversee the transfer.

Attorney General Merrick Garland earlier commissioned a senior prosecutor who worked in former President Donald Trump’s administration, Robert K. Hur, to investigate how classified files ended up in Mr Biden’s home and former office.

In an order signed by Mr Garland, Mr Hur will investigate a potential unauthorised removal and retention of classified files and other documents.

Mr Hur is authorised “to investigate whether any person or entity violated the law in connection with this matter,” Mr Garland said in a statement.

Although the White House has promised to cooperate with the Department of Justice’s investigation, Mr Hur’s investigation opens up new legal threats for Mr Biden and his administration over inappropriate handling of classified files. This legal threat arms the Republican caucus in their continued fierce criticism of Mr Biden.
