The Public Complaints Commission in Ogun State has trained 45 employees in leadership and team management at the workplace.

The acting Director of the commission, Bolanle Adeniyan, at the training in Abeokuta on Wednesday, said that the exercise was aimed at improving the employees and government ethics.

The five -day workshop is themed “Leadership and Team Management.”

She maintained that the training had become imperative for workers to sharpen their skills in leadership and team development to enhance productivity.

Ms Adeniyan noted that the training served the vital purpose of encouraging the employees and boosting their morale.

According to her, the training targeted employees from grade levels eight to 15, while 90 per cent of all the employees are being trained.

“This training serves as a reminder for employees on the ethics of their job and how they interface with the public. Even though we had to shortlist and pick the most hard-working of our employees, virtually 90 per cent of our staff are being trained today,” she said.

The lead facilitator, Aisha Mohammed-Hassan, submitted that the training was aimed at increasing the capacity of the employees for optimal performance at their jobs.

She noted that training and retraining would help employees correct any errors or loopholes that may exist in the organisation.

“The theme of the workshop shows that there are certain skills that the management wants the staff to know, so they were magnanimous to organise this training in the 36 states. You cannot be an officer who listens to the people without having the requisite characteristics and knowledge. “This training is also aimed at correcting those anomalies that exist in the discharge of their duties,” she said.

In her presentation,  Ms Mohammed-Hassan, harped on ethics and professionalism in the public service, noting that professional workplace behaviour was necessary for long-term success in any organisation.

One of the participants and lawyer, Yomi Famuyiwa, said being a participant in the workshop would improve and upgrade the horizons of the staff as it relates to their job description.

He added that the training would further help them achieve professionalism in their career paths.
