Russian special envoy Kirill Dmitriev has met with representatives of U.S. President Donald Trump in Florida, the Russian state news agency TASS reported on Wednesday, citing sources close to the negotiations.

Dmitriev is Russian President Vladimir Putin’s special representative for economic cooperation with foreign countries and also plays an important role in the negotiations to end the war in Ukraine.

According to media reports, Mr Dmitriev has built a good relationship with Mr Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, in recent months.

The US sees itself as a mediator in the talks between Russia and Ukraine.

There have been several recent meetings in the Middle East, now shaken by the war in Iran, as well as one in Switzerland.
