Embattled R&B singer R. Kelly has ditched his legal team to hire Bill Cosby’s Lawyer who successfully vacated his conviction after sexual abuse case.

According to Chicago Tribune, R. Kelly, who is currently awaiting sentencing in a Brooklyn Federal jail, demanded during a telephone conference call that he wanted Mr Cosby’s attorney Jennifer Bonjean to represent him henceforth.

In 2021, R. Kelly was found guilty of all charges levied against him including sexual exploitation of a child, bribery, racketeering and sex trafficking his victims. He is currently facing criminal charge following his involvement in producing child pornography.

In 2018, Bill Cosby was similarly convicted for drugging and sexual assault but he saw his conviction overturned by Pennsylvania’s highest court and the 83 year old was released in June 2021.

Ms Bonjean is already working on an appeal for R. Kelly’s case. His jury trial is set for August 2022.
