Rangers assure supporters of victory against visiting Rivers United

Abdul Maikaba, Rangers International FC’s Technical Adviser, has promised the club’s supporters of victory against the visiting Rivers United.
He gave assurance that the team “has overcome the curve” and is poised to get back to winning ways in this weekend encounter.
This is contained in a statement issued by the club’s Media Officer, Norbert Okolie, and made available in Enugu on Friday.
The statement said that Maikaba maintained that the match against Rivers United would be a cracker. He pointed out that the visitors, who are the league leaders, had acquired an imposing form this season.
“Naturally, this is a top of the table encounter and my players have shown that threat and determination to return to winning ways after some not-too-impressive results.
“From our last two fixtures, and with what was on display in our last training, I am positive going into the match with Rivers United.
“I believe we shall get the result we worked for at the end of the match. We are not unmindful of what they are bringing for this encounter.
“We all know that they have the best attacking side, plus the best defensive side, with one of the leading scorers of the season,” the coach added.
He was further quoted to have said that his wards would respect the visitors for their achievement in the season so far.
“But they will not be intimidated. They shall play their normal game.
“Our target is the maximum points and by God’s grace, we shall get it at the end of the match to brighten our chances of picking the continental ticket,” Maikaba said.
Captain of the team, Tope Olusesi, reportedly said: “We know that Rivers will be coming with all they have for this match but we have our work cut out, which is to win.
“We want to get the three points at stake because we lost to them when we played in Port Harcourt. So, we need this win to get our target for the season back on track,” Olusesi said.
Rivers United lead the NPFL table with 70 points, while Rangers FC are third with 51 points after 33 matches.
