Regional development minister lauds NEDC projects in Borno

The Minister of State for Regional Development, Uba Maigari Ahmadu, has commended the North East Development Commission (NEDC) for providing a 250-bed capacity hostel, among other interventions on critical projects in the region.
The minister made the commendation on Monday during his two-day working tour to facilities executed by the NEDC in Borno, at the hostel with a laundry and a canteen, currently under construction at Mohammed Lawan College of Agric, Maiduguri.
Mr Ahmadu, who was taken around by the provost of the college and the supervising engineer, commended the pace of work and assured his ministry’s support.
The minister also visited the Moro Moro bridge, one of the facilities that collapsed during the September 10, 2024, Maiduguri flood disaster, and is currently being reconstructed through the commission’s intervention initiative.
Kori Shettima, the supervising engineer of the project, expressed happiness for the NEDC’s intervention, saying the bridge was very strategic for the development of Nigeria’s economy because of its connectivity to Gomboru International Cattle Market and other parts of Maiduguri.
At the second bridge, which was submerged during the September 20, 2024, flood disaster, Mr Ahmadu also expressed appreciation for the work being executed there through the NEDC’s intervention.
He also announced his ministry’s readiness to deploy all required resources to ensure that all projects handled by the commission across the six northeastern states are completed as scheduled.
The minister said President Bola Tinubu has Borno and the entire North-East at heart, adding that his visit clearly demonstrated the present administration’s interest in the region.
