Blessing Fubara, the elder brother to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, has declared his intention to contest in Rivers’ 2027 governorship election on the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress.

Mr Fubara who spoke in a video clip, said he offered himself to serve the people of the state with competence and energy to restore the state.

“I sit before you today with profound gratitude to God Almighty and utmost humility to you, offering myself ready, competent and energetic to serve. I am addressing you today on the occasion of the Nigeria Democratic Congress’ party’s primary elections across states of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said.

Mr Fubara stated that he stood on competent, reliable and reputable ground to restore the soul of Nigeria and restore the soul of River. He stated that the political happenings in the state cannot be overemphasised, saying that Rivers is impoverished.

“We have lost opportunities. We have lost investments. We have lost our dignity as a people,” said Mr Fubara.

He added that the state has lost its pride, stating that it is time for a total uprising to make a statement across party lines, ethnic, and political sentiments, to take over the state and return River State to its zenith.

This follows Mr Fubara’s withdrawal from the All Progressives Congress’ governorship primary election.
