Road Expansion: Adamawa govt to demolish illegal structures in Yola

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa says his administration will demolish any illegal structure located on the government layout, especially in the state capital.
The governor stated this shortly after inspecting a 2.5km roads project on Monday in Yola.
The roads were Philip Maken Road and Links at Karewa, Masakare in Yola North, which were awarded in 2020 by his administration.
The governor who expressed displeasure over mode of erecting buildings in parts of the state, warned that the demolition was necessary as his administration was set to construct more roads in Yola.
“I am not happy with the way and manner some people erect buildings thus blocking government routes. Government will not hesitate to take any drastic action to create access.
“Because such illegal buildings are seriously affecting the speed of many road projects in the state capital and the government will no longer hold its hands watching,” Mr Fintiri said.
He said that the reason for the inspection was to see for himself the report that somebody had built a house illegally on the road stopping the contractor from making progress.
“During the inspection, I personally discovered that the owner of the house had encroached on government road by four metres beyond his plot.
“Government is not happy with the development and it will no longer tolerate the attitude being perpetrated by the greedy people.
“Government is going to take drastic action against perpetrators of such acts for the overall interest of the state and to serve as deterrent to others,” Fintiri said.
He assured the people of the state of more dividends of democracy as well as the welfare of the citizens as top priority.
