Rotary Club donates textbooks, wheelchairs to students, orphanages in Plateau
The Rotary club of Naraguta, has donated 800 textbooks to students of St John’s Secondary School, House of Recab and Semji orphanages in Jos, Plateau State.
The newly invested 41st president of the Club, Dr Afam Achoru, on Sunday in Jos, said that the club also donated wheelchairs to five persons with special needs.
Mr Achoru, during his investiture ceremony, said the donations were in line with the focal areas of the Rotary club international.
According to him, the club has also planted 200 tree seedlings at St Paul’s Nursery and Primary School in Lamingo in line with its focal area on environmental protection.
Similarly, he said the club would also donate medical supplies, Insecticidal mosquito nets, disinfectants to nursing mothers in accordance with the Rotary’s maternal and child health mandate.
The president noted that the club would visit the internally displaced persons camps in the state to conduct medical outreaches and distribute toiletries to the IDPs as a fulfilment of its disease prevention and treatment focal area.
Speaking during the ceremony, Managing Director, North-Central Development Commission (NCDC), Dr Cyril Tsenyil, commended the club for its impactful humanitarian services.
Mr Tsenyil, awarded by the club for his exceptional leadership attributes while he seeved as the accountant general of Plateau State also commended the newly invested president for his blueprint.
The tenure of the newly invested president commenced in June 2025.
