Twenty-seven people died including the head of the Dmytrivka community, Taras Didych and dozens of people injured after a Russian drone strike hit a residential building, a care home and disabled people in Myla community near Kyiv Ukraine.

In a post on X on Saturday by Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, he said the country was dealing with the aftermath of a Russian drone strike since Friday.

He stated that necessary services were deployed and the state emergency service units on the ground– with more than 300 officials involved.

He said that a warehouse was also struck, followed by a detonation.

“Unfortunately, the surrounding infrastructure has suffered significant damage – residential buildings, as well as a care home for elderly people and people with disabilities, have been damaged.

“As of now, 27 people have been reported killed. One of those killed was the head of the Dmytrivka community, Taras Didych. He was rescuing people,” Mr Zelenskyy said.

The president expressed condolences to the victims’ families.

He stated that more than 370 people had been evacuated.

“I received reports from Prime Minister Sergii Koretskyi and Minister of Internal Affairs Ivan Vyhivskyi. Those who allowed this to happen must be held accountable for their decisions.

“Investigators from the National Police and the Security Service of Ukraine are conducting a pre-trial investigation, and criminal proceedings have been opened on charges of official negligence. There are regulations in place – ammunition cannot be stored near homes or other residential areas. Appropriate conclusions will certainly be drawn,” Mr Zelenskyy noted.

He added that regions such as Odesa, Dnipro, Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Kherson, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Donetsk, and Chernihiv were also affected by drone strikes in the overnight attack.

According to him, more than 260 attack drones were involved, as well as Banderol drones. Kyiv is under nonstop attack from jet-powered drones.

He added that Ukraine cannot be left alone in finding solutions to defend against such strikes, thanking everyone who helped with additional support packages and sanctions against Russia.
