The St Petersburg Gazprom Arena, a Russian stadium, has refused to host two concerts by American rapper Kanye West, aka Ye.

The stadium announced that the two shows of the rapper’s scheduled for October 10 and 11 will no longer be held at the venue after it had received complaints about these concerts following the rapper’s history of antisemitic comments.

The venue added that the organisers had never signed an official contract to use the stadium.

It was previously announced that the rapper would perform two nights at the stadium as part of his world tour, calling him the “most influential musician artist of the modern era”.

However, Say Agency said the concerts had not been cancelled, adding that Kanye West’s management and the agency are working to ensure the shows go ahead.

“Dear friends, Say Agency kindly asks you not to panic and to remain patient. The concerts have not been cancelled. Our team is in contact with the artist and is currently doing everything possible to bring you two unforgettable Ye shows that each of us will remember for a lifetime.

“We will keep you updated on all changes and answer all important questions. Please remain patient and wait for an official statement. We sincerely thank you for your understanding,” it said.
