Safety Babes whip Bayelsa Queens for second win

Safety Babes female handball team on Friday whipped their Bayelsa Queens opponents 27-19 to record a straight second win at the ongoing 2021 Prudent Energy Handball Premier League in Abuja.
In the match played at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Safety Babes recorded their second win in their second match at the tournament.
Safety Babes’ efforts to quickly overpower their opponents in the first half met with a stiff resistance as Bayelsa Queens displayed their firepower and brilliance as much as they received. Both sides then ended the first half with nine points apiece.
In the second half, the Safety Babes ensured they brought their experience to bear to dominate their opponents to go on to win the match 27-19.
Speaking after the match, Opuene Yekorogha of Bayelsa Queens said “Our opponents are former champions and they have well-experienced players in their teams, whereas this is the first appearance of my players in the Premier League.
“As it is now, we are going to prepare hard for our next match. We have to make it happen that we (should) win our next match, which is against Plateau Peacocks.
“We will watch how they are playing with their other opponents, and then we will know what formation we will come up with to beat them when we meet on Saturday.”
Safety Babes female handball club won their first match by beating Kada Queens 24-17, while the Bayelsa Queens lost to Imo Grasshoppers 26-36.
Meanwhile, in the other matches played in the female category of the league on Friday, Imo Grasshoppers lost to Edo Dynamos 19-33 while Adorable Angels beat Defender Babes 30-29.
A total of 21 teams are participating in the Premier League, made up of 10 female teams and 11 male teams.
The 2021 Prudent Energy Handball Premier League which kicked off on Thursday is expected to end on November 3.
