Salah shines as Liverpool thrash Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford
Mohamed Salah was the star of the show, contributing to all three goals as Liverpool secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Manchester United in their Premier League clash.
The win marked a dramatic end to three consecutive draws between these fierce rivals.
Liverpool’s dominance was evident early on, although an initial lead from Trent Alexander-Arnold was disallowed due to Salah being offside. Both teams showed eagerness to seize control, with Liverpool eventually making their mark.
The breakthrough came in the 35th minute when Casemiro’s misplaced pass was seized by Ryan Gravenberch. He fed Salah, whose deft cross was met with a header from Luis Diaz.
Seven minutes later, Salah intercepted Casemiro’s pass and provided a perfect assist to Diaz, leading to a second goal and highlighting their sharp attacking synergy.
Manchester United’s troubles continued into the second half, despite a debut effort from Toby Collyer. Alisson’s stellar saves kept United at bay, including a close-range header from Joshua Zirkzee. Salah sealed Liverpool’s win with a clinical finish following a counter-attack initiated by Alexis Mac Allister.
Salah’s performance was especially notable as he extended his scoring streak to seven games at Old Trafford. Liverpool’s perfect start to the season underscored by their three clean sheets, are a rare achievement in their Premier League history.
In stark contrast, Manchester United’s back-to-back defeats have intensified the pressure on manager Erik ten Hag as the international break approaches.
