The police in Lagos on Thursday arraigned a 26-year-old female sales representative, Adedamola Odetoun, for allegedly defrauding her employer to the tune of N1 million.

The defendant appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on a three-count charge bordering on cheating and stealing.

She, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against her.

The Police Prosecutor, Inspector John Iberedem, told the court that the defendant and some others still at large, committed the offences on January 11, at Ogba Lagos.

Iberedem said that Odetoun fraudulently obtained N1 million from customers on the pretext of remitting the money to her employer’s account, one Adenike Kolawole.

He said that the defendant failed to do so but converted the money to her personal use.

The offence contravenes Sections 287, 314 and 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, O.A Odubayo granted the defendant bail in the sum of N250, 000 with two  sureties in like sum.

She ordered the sureties to show evidence of two years tax payment.

The court adjourned the case until February 5 for hearing.
