Sanwo-Olu appoints London-Lagos solo driver Pelumi Nubi as tourism ambassador

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has appointed travel content creator Pelumi Nubi, known for her solo journey from London to Lagos by road, as the state tourism ambassador.

Mr Sanwo-Olu also presented Ms Nubi with a new car, house, and customised plate number (NUBI-9JA).

Ms Nubi shared the news via her X handle after meeting with Mr Sanwo-Olu, saying, “Just another great start and a new beginning. 

“Congratulations to me, guys, as I become a Lagos state ambassador alongside a new car gift from His Excellency @jidesanwoolu, a new home in Lagos, and also a customised plate number.”

Jubril A. Gawat, the senior special assistant on new media to Mr Sanwo-Olu, also shared similar information on his X account on Monday.

He wrote; “Welcome Pelumi Nubi, @peluminubi_, Our Brand New Lagos Ambassador, She gets a brand new car from Governor @jidesanwoolu, a new home in Lagos, a customised plate number, and one more thing, she is donating her vehicle (the one she used for the trip) to our Brand New J Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture and History as a monumental gift to Lagos State.”

Ms Nubi  arrived in Nigeria on Sunday after the London-Lagos road trip she embarked upon on January 31, 2024.

She was welcomed at the Nigeria-Benin Republic border by Toke Benson-Awoyinka, the Lagos Commissioner of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, and Idris Aregbe, the Special Adviser on Tourism, Arts, and Culture to Mr Sanwo-Olu.
