Sanwo-Olu charges Ifelodun LCDA chairman to prioritise grassroots governance

Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, on Monday, charged the newly sworn-in Ifelodun LCDA chairman, Olufemi Okeowo, to prioritise grassroots governance and commitment.
Mr Sanwo-Olu urged Mr Okeowo, re-elected for a second term, to collaborate with stakeholders and deliver tangible results that would directly improve residents’ lives within the council area.
Mr Okeowo was elected during the July 12 council elections.
He missed the July 27 swearing-in due to ill health, but is now fit to steer governance in Ifelodun LCDA.
Speaking during the swearing-in at Lagos House, Ikeja, Mr Sanwo-Olu implored officials to give Mr Okeowo full support necessary for effective performance in office.
“We are encouraged by his achievements in his first tenure. We believe God has strengthened him to accomplish more during this second term.
“Ifelodun LCDA is a vital part of our administration. It is one of the important LCDAs with a huge population and diverse community engagement,” he said.
The Lagos commissioner for local government, chieftaincy affairs and rural development, Bolaji Robert, congratulated Mr Okeowo for his contributions at the grassroots level.
The commissioner stressed the importance of civic engagement, democratic values, and responsible leadership in guiding communities through the electoral process.
