Idris Aregbe, special adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on tourism, arts, and culture, has appreciated Nigerians in the diaspora for choosing Lagos as their destination for tourism and business during the yuletide.

Mr Aregbe expressed appreciation via his Instagram page, @idrisconnectingnigeria, on Friday.

On December 30, 2024, the state hosted “Lagos Tourism is Rising,” an activation event to appreciate Nigerians in the diaspora and international visitors for choosing Lagos as their holiday destination.

The event also showcased the city’s rich cultural heritage through an exclusive tour across Lagos State.

The tour began in Ikoyi and Victoria Island with a convoy of 10 LagRide vehicles, 10 bikers from the Bikers’ Community, a roadshow tour bus, and vibrant music, all embodying the spirit of Lagos in action.

The tour included a stop at the J. Randle Museum, where visitors explored near-extinct Nigerian cultures.

According to Mr Aregbe, the “Lagos Tourism is Rising” initiative is meant to appreciate everyone for visiting the state.

“Appreciating Nigerians in the diaspora and lovers of Lagos for choosing our city as their holiday and business destination is the aim of the ‘Lagos Tourism is Rising’ initiative.

“Following the incredible feedback from guests after visits to @nikeartgallery and @jrandlecentre, I am excited to announce that this initiative will now be a monthly programme.

“Special thanks to Mr Sanwo-Olu for creating an enabling environment for Lagos tourism to thrive,” he said.
