Second Nigerian House of Reps member dies in three days
The lawmaker representing Lere Federal Constituency of Kaduna in the House of Representatives, Suleiman Aliyu, has died after a brief illness, relatives disclosed.
Associates said on Twitter that Mr Aliyu died in the early hours of Tuesday at the Barau Dikko Hospital in Kaduna.
“Indeed this life is nothing but a number of days,” the Twitter user said in another tweet, adding in yet another update that the deceased’s family and community would miss his love and generosity.
The deceased, who was also a former commissioner of water resources in Kaduna, was in March 2020, sworn in as the lawmaker representing Lere Federal Constituency, after the Appeal Court in Kaduna declared him the winner of the February 23, 2019 election.
Mr Aliyu’s death comes barely three days after the House mourned the death of Haruna Maitala, a member who represented Jos North/Bassa federal constituency.
Mr Maitala died in an auto crash along Abuja-Jos highway on Friday, April 2. It was announced the following day by his media consultant Joseph Adudu.
