Security guard  arraigned for allegedly breaking company’s safe

 A 32-year-old security operative, Richard Sunday, on Thursday appeared before an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, for allegedly breaking a safe belonging to Med Plus Store in Ikeja.

The defendannt whose address was not mentioned  is standing trial on a charge of causing malicious damage.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor, ASP Donjour  Perezi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on November 23, 2025 at about 12.00 p.m. at Med Plus Store in  Ikeja, Lagos.

He alleged that the defendant broke a safe valued at N260,000 belonging to the company. 

According to the prosecution, the case was reported by a representative of Shepherd Hill Security Company, who alleged that the defendant, a security operative deployed to the store, damaged the safe while on duty.

According to the prosecution, the offence contravenes the provisions of sections 335 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, S.K Matepo, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case until March 30, for hearing.(NAN)
