The Jos Magistrates’ Court sentenced a 35-year-old security guard, Francis Dung, to three months imprisonment for stealing iron rods from a company on Wednesday.

The magistrate, Shawomi Bokkos, summarily tried and sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the charge.

Mr Bokkos, in his judgement, ordered the convict to pay an option of a N20,000 fine or spend three months in prison.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Ijuptil Thiawur, told the court that the case was reported on August 15 at the Anglo-Jos Police station by Fahad Mamud, the company security guard.

Mr Thiawur said the convict went to the company and removed the iron rods used to demarcate one of their offices before the guard caught him.

The police said that the offence contravened the Plateau Penal Code Law.
