Security has improved significantly in Benue, says Gov Alia’s adviser

Solomon Iorpev, a technical adviser to the Benue governor, says the security of lives and property has significantly improved in the state.
Mr Iorpev stated this in Makurdi when he visited the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Benue Council.
Mr Iorpev attributed the improvement to Governor Hyacinth Alia’s unending efforts to ensure that the state enjoys peace and unity.
He said most affected communities enjoyed relative peace, adding that some farmers have returned to their farms and harvested their produce this year.
Mr Iorpev said that outside security, the administration inherited numerous deficits in the health, agriculture, education, infrastructure, and transportation sectors but has made substantial progress in addressing them.
According to him, one of the notable achievements made by the governor was the construction of 46 kilometres of roads within the city centre, with many previously abandoned streets reopened.
He stated that the projects have greatly improved access and mobility, increasing land value and other property within the affected areas.
Mr Iorpev further noted that the administration was also constructing 52 roads simultaneously in various villages.
“The city’s lighting project in Makurdi has reduced the crime rates and will be extended to other major cities. This administration has created jobs, allocated 15 per cent of the 2024 budget to education, and established the Benue State Education Quality Assurance Agency.
“The administration has also revitalised government assets, cut off leakages, and ensured prompt payment of salaries and pensions.
“Overall, I can say with all sense of humility that Governor Alia’s administration has demonstrated a commitment to transforming Benue, addressing its inherited deficits, and improving the lives of its citizens,” he said.
