Selection of new Elulu Mopa in Kogi transparent, fair, credible: Kingmakers

The kingmakers of the Mopa Traditional Council in Mopamuro, Kogi, have affirmed that the selection process of the new Elulu of Mopa Land, Oba Muyiwa Ibeun, was credible, fair and transparent.
The kingmakers made the affirmation at a news conference on Thursday at Elulu’s place in Mopa, Mopamuro LGA.
Mr Ibeun was coronated as Elulu of Mopa on May 18 after receiving his appointment letter from the Kogi government, confirmation by Mopa kingmakers, and ratification by the Okun Traditional Council.
The former Elulu of Mopa, Oba Julius Joledo, died on November 22, 2023.
The kingmakers were reacting to a claim by an aggrieved aspirant who alleged that manipulations marred the selection of the new Elulu Mopa to favour Mr Ibeun.
The kingmakers include Shola Mofobi, the Obaje of Mopaland, Rotimi Akinbola from Ijagbe-Mopa, Ayodele Oluwole, Temitope Olorunshola, among others, from the nine communities of Mopaland.
