The Senate has announced that its national security summit on strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture will be held from October 12 to October 13.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, announced the dates during plenary on Tuesday in Abuja.

Mr Akpabio said the summit, entitled “Strengthening Nigeria’s National Security Architecture: Innovation, Collaboration and Resilience in a Changing World,” would commence at 9 a.m. daily.

He said the summit would be held at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, and would give stakeholders an opportunity to deliberate on strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture.

Mr Akpabio urged senators to contribute to discussions on measures that would enable Nigerians to live safely and return to their farms without fear.

He also called on security agencies to participate in the summit and contribute to discussions aimed at improving national security.

The Senate president described the summit as long overdue and said the Senate would contribute to efforts to address the country’s security challenges.

He said the summit would bring together relevant stakeholders to deliberate on stronger security architecture, inter-agency collaboration and resilience against emerging threats.

The Senate subsequently adjourned plenary to October 13.
