Seun Kuti walks out on Sanwo-Olu at sister’s birthday party
Late Fela Kuti’s youngest son Seun Kuti walked out on the Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu during the luxurious birthday celebration of his elder sister Yeni Kuti.
Seun and other family members as well as other dignitaries had gathered at the African Shrine to celebrate with Yeni, Fela’s first child who turned 60 years old on Monday.
Things however went awry when Seun sighted the presence of Mr Sanwo-Olu at the occasion, storming out in fury.
He eventually returned and participated in the event after the intervention of his elder brother Femi Kuti.
Seun, who has taken over Fela’s anti-state rebellion, has had running battle with state forces over his activism and anti government stance on several issues bothering on social justice and human rights.
Last December, the police laid siege on his home over a plan by him and members of a political organisation he leads, Movement of the People, to stage protests against police brutality and other injustices. He was arrested and later released and some pressure by his team.
