Seven Jigawa residents arrested in police raids

The police command in Jigawa has arrested seven suspects while raiding black spots and criminal hideouts in Birninkudu and Gwaram local government areas.
The command’s spokesman, Lawan Shiisu, confirmed the arrest in Dutse on Tuesday.
Mr Shiisu explained that three of the suspects, aged between 20 and 28, were arrested in Babaldu village, Birninkudu LGA, when a police patrol team raided black spots and hideouts for criminals in the area.
He explained that 85 wraps of dried leaves, suspected to be Indian hemp, 136 assorted tablets of illicit drugs, 24 pieces of rubber solution, known as ‘sholisho’, and one knife were seized during the raids.
The police spokesman added that one of the suspects was linked to the case of culpable homicide that occurred in August 2021.
Mr Shiisu recalled that on August 6, at about 7:50 hours, some angry people in the village (Babaldu) chased a suspected motorcycle thief, killed and set him ablaze.
The other four suspects were arrested in Sabuwar Gwaraw town, Gwaram LGA.
He explained that the suspects, aged between 20 and 40, were arrested with four pieces of rubber solution in their possession.
