The police command in Kaduna says it has nabbed at least 41 suspected kidnappers and armed robbers between March and April 2026.

The police commissioner, Rabiu Muhammad, disclosed this during a press briefing on Monday in Kaduna. He said the command also rescued seven kidnapped victims, recovered 24 firearms, 200 rounds of live ammunition, and 50 stolen cattle during the period.

Mr Muhammad attributed the achievements to intelligence-led policing, strategic operations, and the commitment of the command’s operatives.

According to him, the successes recorded were largely in the fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes across Kaduna.

“On April 7, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit arrested a suspected arms trafficker in Kagarko local government area and recovered 20 locally-made guns from him.

“Similarly, on April 11, two suspected kidnappers were arrested in Tashan Yari Village, Makarfi local government area, following credible intelligence,” he said.

The police commissioner said operatives also arrested several informants supporting bandits in different parts of the state.

He listed other suspects arrested in Kachia, Giwa, and Kauru LGAs for allegedly supplying information and drugs to criminal elements.

Mr Muhammad further said that on April 1, operatives intercepted 200 rounds of live ammunition hidden in a sack of guinea corn, leading to the arrest of two suspects from Zamfara.

He added that the command also apprehended a notorious drug dealer and gang member terrorising the Rigasa area.

The commissioner said two suspected kidnappers operating in Kubau LGA were also arrested in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force.

In a related development, Mr Muhammad said police operatives arrested two suspected cattle rustlers and recovered 20 stolen cows in Kufena. He also disclosed that a surveillance team arrested several suspects involved in armed robbery, phone snatching, and thuggery in Rigasa.

According to him, the command also arrested a suspected kidnapper in Lere LGA and broke up a motorcycle theft ring, recovering a stolen motorcycle.

The police commissioner said a suspected thief was also arrested for stealing iron materials from a construction site at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium.

Mr Muhammad reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ridding the state of criminal elements and ensuring the safety of residents.
