Seven passengers killed in Niger road crash

Several passengers, including children, were reported to have lost their lives in a head-on collision along the Kutigi-Mokwa-Bida road in Lavun Local Government Area of Niger State.
A Facebook user, Mc Kolo Kutigi Ba’agi, who posted the incident along with pictures of the lifeless bodies of the passengers, said the collision occurred between Lanle and Shabe Woro village when a Sienna collided with a Mazda car.
“There was a tragic accident on the Kutigi Mokwa Bida road between Lanle and Shabe Woro involving a Mazda car that was headed to Mokwa from Minna and a Sienna car travelling from Lagos to Minna.”
“The Mazda car mistakenly entered a blind corner and collided with the Sienna; nine fatalities were reported from the Mazda car. May Allah protect us from any kind of accident, ameen,” he said.
When contacted, Aishatu Sa’adu, the sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in the state, confirmed the incident to the Peoples Gazette but said seven persons died in the accident.
“The crash occurred along Kutugi -Bida Road at Shebe village around 11: 30 AM, involving two vehicles. 18 people were involved: seven killed, seven injured and four not injured,” she said.
She added that the injured were all taken to Kutigi General Hospital while the deceased were equally taken to the same hospital mortuary.
