Seyi Tinubu flies presidential jet to watch polo tournament in Kano

Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu, flew the presidential jet to watch a game at the Kano International Polo Tournament on Sunday.
Photos of Mr Tinubu alighting from the presidential jet in Kano flooded social media on Monday, sparking criticisms from Nigerians.Â
Nigerians on X, formerly Twitter, expressed concern about the government’s extravagance while citizens are urged to sacrifice.
Irked by the president’s son’s action, @franksomely tweeted, “What exactly is the political office of Seyi Tinubu? Dude will fly on private jets and receive diplomatic welcome by government officials. Someone correct me: when did first son of the president become a political office?”
Also, a Nigerian journalist, Jaafar Jaafar, said it was an abuse of national assets, recalling that former President Muhammadu Buhari’s daughter, Hanan, was criticised for the same reason.
“Here’s Tinubu’s golden child, Seyi, travelling in a presidential jet to watch polo in Kano. But this trend did not start today,” said the journalist. “Buhari set the bad example when he allowed his daughter Hanan to travel in a presidential jet for a photo tour in Bauchi. Even if our laws are vague on this, one thing is clear. This is an offence to the moral code of leadership.”
Mr Tinubu’s private trip to Kano comes three years after Mr Buhari’s daughter flew the presidential jet on a personal visit to Bauchi.
