The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) on Saturday sympathised with the family of the late Sheikh Abubakar Gero, who died on Wednesday, Sept. 6.

The commission, in a condolence letter signed by its chairman, Zikrullah Hassan, described the late cleric as a renowned scholar, preacher and activist who will be greatly missed by the Muslim Ummah.

“On behalf of the management and staff of the commission, we hereby express our heartfelt condolences to his family, the Jama’ atul Izalatil Bid’ah Wal” iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS ), and the Muslim Ummah at large.

“We pray the Almighty Allah to grant all of them the fortitude to bear this great loss. Amen.”

Mr Hassan particularly noted the immense contributions and selfless services of the late Mr Gero to Kebbi state pilgrims as well as the entire Nigerian pilgrims.

“It was with a deep sense of loss and sorrow, but with total submission to the Will of Almighty Allah, that we received the sad news of the death of our beloved scholar, Sheikh Abubakar Gero, which occurred on Wednesday, Sept. 6.

“The late Sheikh was no doubt a renowned scholar and Da’wah activist, not only in Kebbi, his state of origin, but also throughout Nigeria.

“We besiege the Almighty Allah to forgive him and elevate his station among those who are guided, send him along the path of those who came before and enlarge for him his grave and shed light upon him in aljanat firdaus.”
