Shooting Stars beat Nasarawa United 1-0

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan on Sunday defeated visiting Nasarawa United Football Club of Lafia 1-0 in a Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Match Day 19 fixture.
Anietie Uko’s thunderous shot from outside the penalty box in the 15th minute of the game gave 3SC the win.
While both teams gave their best to secure the available three points, 3SC had an edge as they mounted pressure on their visitors in the first half of the encounter.
Their visitors made more dangerous attacking incursions in the last 15 minutes of the encounter. But they were checked by 3SC’S defence line and several saves by goalkeeper Dede Dare.
Danlami Umar’s frantic save also denied 3SC’s Ayo Adejubu a good chance of scoring a second goal for the club.
Adejubu had replaced Uko, who exited from the game due to injury.
The Oluyole Warriors have now moved to the ninth position on the log, having secured 26 points from 19 matches.
Speaking later, Edith Agoye, the 3SC chief coach, commended his players for securing the maximum three points from the encounter.
He allayed fears over Uko’s injury.
“He will be fine. The team’s medical staff are on him and hopefully by tomorrow (Monday) morning we will get a better assessment of him. And hopefully, we will do everything necessary to make sure he comes back on time, especially just by the end of the league’s two-week break,” Agoye said.
