Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan, Oyo State, on Sunday beat Enugu Rangers International FC 3-1 in the matchday 32 fixture of the Nigeria Premier Football League.

The game which kicked off at 4pm at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan, drew many football enthusiasts.

During the first half of the match, 3SC and Rangers FC, contended for victory but to no avail.

Following the return of the teams from the first half break, Shooting Stars player Sodiq Ibrahim broke the deadlock by scoring a goal.

Shortly after, the score was tallied by Ranger FC player Chidiebere Nwobodo at the 69th minute of the match.

Shooting Stars player Desmond Ojietefian restored the lead, while his colleague Adams Mustapha netted the third goal into the Rangers FC net.

An extra 12 minutes by the referee could not alter the 3-1 score.

Rangers FC Coach, Fidelis Ikechukwu, said the game ended the way it did and his team lost.

“Not fair enough, the game ended the way it did and we lost. We must have to accept the defeat. But I must let you know that it wasn’t that nice, fair officiating we had there. I don’t want to talk about that. The game has gone,” the Rangers FC coach told the Peoples Gazette.

Insisting that the game was not a “do-or-die,” the coach expressed optimism about the Rangers FC performance in the forthcoming matches as the league continues.

Also reacting, Shooting Stars coach, Nurudeen Aweroro, praised his team players for giving their best to the match.

He noted that his team would continue to work on its goal scoring techniques to improve its performance both at home matches and during continental fixtures.
