Six Delta Peoples Democratic Party members in the House of Representatives defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress on Tuesday.

Nnamdi Ezechi, Jonathan Ukodiko, Nicholas Mutu, Thomas Ereyitomi, Julius Pondi and Victor Nwokolo are the lawmakers.

Announcing their defection, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas welcomed them to the ruling APC.

The defected members in their separate letters of resignation relied on the crisis in the PDP as the reason for their defections.

Mr Ezechi, representing Ndokwa East/Ndokwa West/Ukwuani federal constituency, said that he had no choice but to join the performing governor of Delta to APC to consolidate progress.

Also in another gale of defections, two Labour Party members from Enugu moved to the PDP.

Chidi Obetta, a member representing Nsukka/Igboeze South federal constituency, formerly of the Labour Party, defected to the PDP, relying on what he called a “lingering crisis” in the party.

In the same vein, Dennis Agbo, a member representing Igboeze North/Udenu federal constituency, also resigned from his membership of the LP on the grounds of divisions in the party.
