Governor Babagana Zulum on Monday ducked the recent massacre of over 100 farmers in his state to heap praises on President Muhammadu Buhari as being better at handling the nation’s security than his predecessors, especially Goodluck Jonathan.

Boko Haram insurgents have continued to kill and destroy in Mr. Zulum’s Borno State, with more than 30,000 citizens, mostly civilians and security forces, paying the ultimate price in the 11-year-long campaign by fundamentalists.

“From statewide statistics on affairs in the 27 Local Government Areas since 2011, the fact is that despite the recent happenings in Borno State, the security situation in Borno State and indeed that of the Entire North East sub-region is still far better under Buhari, and this is based on records,” Mr. Zulum said while receiving members of Arewa Consultative Forum in Maiduguri on Sunday.

Mr. Zulum is of the same ruling APC Mr. Buhari, but his comment has struck residents as insensitive and sycophantic.

Between November 27 and 28, Boko Haram terrorists attacked a farming community near Zabarmari, killing over 100 farmers, according to the United Nations.

The terrorist group later claimed responsibility for the attack, saying 78 farmers were killed. Mr. Zulum joined villagers to bury at least 43 of the victims on November 29.
