Soldiers rescue kidnapped Kwara residents

Chinedu Nnebeife, the general officer commanding 2 Division, Nigerian Army, and commander, Sector 3 Operation FANSAN YAMA, has led troops in a successful rescue operation in Kwara.
The rescue operation was disclosed in a statement on Saturday.
The statement said the GOC had, during an operational visit to Patrol Base Babanla on Thursday, led troops to advance into Babasango Forest, where they rescued two kidnapped victims.
It said the victims were later handed over to the traditional ruler of Ayekale, Oba Pius Oluwole Oni Dofin of Idofin Odoeshe Ayekale.
According to the statement, the visit followed a bandits’ attack near Idofin in Omu-Aran LGA, where three traders were killed at Olegbede village.
“Oba Oluwole attributed the attacks to the community’s proximity to Babasango Forest and appealed for sustained military presence.
“Maj.-Gen. Nnebeife commiserated with the royal father and assured that the Nigerian Army would sustain ongoing operations to clear the forest of bandits and other criminal elements,” it said.
