Multinational conglomerate Sony has stated it will increase the prices of its PlayStation 5 consoles for the second time in less than a year starting from April.

In a statement, the company announced $649.99 as the new price for the PS5 Disc Edition in the United States, a $100 increase from the last time Sony hiked the price in August 2025.

The PS5 Digital Edition will also see a $100 jump from $499.99 to $599.99, while the PS5 Pro will be raised from $749.99 to $899.99.

Sony cited current “pressures in the global economic landscape” as the reason behind the decision.

Meanwhile, in the United Kingdom, the PS5 Disc Edition will cost £569.99, the PS5 Digital Edition set at £519.99, and the PS5 Pro for £789.99. In Europe, the new prices are €649.99, €599.99, and €899.99, respectively.

“We know that price changes impact our community, and after careful evaluation, we found this was a necessary step to ensure we can continue delivering innovative, high-quality gaming experiences to players worldwide.

“The updated recommended retail prices for PS5 consoles are effective starting April 2, 2026 as follows. For all other territories, please check with your local retailer or direct.playstation.com where it is available,” the company said.
