Sowore’s AAC writes Tinubu for approval to hold campaign inauguration at Presidential Villa

The African Action Congress (AAC) has sought President Bola Tinubu’s approval to hold its Presidential Campaign Council’s inauguration at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a letter to Mr Tinubu on Wednesday, the party’s National Secretary, Oshiokhue Philip Ikpeminoghena, said the event was slated for November 11, 2026.
The party also requested food, drinks and other logistical support for 5,000 participants expected to attend the event from within and outside Nigeria.
“On behalf of the African Action Congress (AAC), I respectfully write to request approval to hold the inauguration ceremony of our Presidential Campaign Council on the 11th of November 2026 at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja, in preparation for the 2027 general elections,” the statement read.
The party also said the request was aimed at promoting multiparty democracy, political inclusiveness and equal treatment of political parties.
“We also request the provision of food, drinks, and other logistical support for 5,000 participants from home and abroad at the event, consistent with the arrangements reportedly extended to the All Progressives Congress (APC) for a similar political engagement,” the party’s spokesman said.
The party asked the presidency to consider the request favourably and provide information on the procedures and conditions for approval.
The request comes as political parties in Nigeria prepare for the 2027 general elections.
