The State Security Service has announced the disruption of an alleged arms supply network linked to attacks in Plateau State and neighbouring areas, leading to the arrest of a suspected arms dealer.

The service, in a statement on Sunday, said the suspect was arrested on November 12 and confessed to having manufactured and distributed high-calibre weapons and ammunition to armed groups involved in violent attacks in Plateau State and other northern regions.

“Operatives of the Department of State Services have successfully disrupted a high target arms supply network linked to terrorist activities in Plateau and neighbouring states.

“The operation led to the arrest of Musa Abubakar, a key arms dealer, following precise intelligence on November 12, 2025,” the statement read.

SSS said the suspect was arrested following “credible intelligence on activities of the suspect, which led to a targeted raid on his arms manufacturing workshop located in the Mista Ali area of Bassa Local Government Area, Plateau State.”

The secret police added that it recovered components of improvised explosive devices, chemicals and other equipment from the location.

This comes amid efforts by the Nigerian government to combat insecurity in different parts of the country, especially after U.S. President Donald Trump redesignated Nigeria as a country of particular concern and threatened to invade the country over alleged Christian genocide.

On Thursday, President Bola Tinubu dispatched an emissary, Abiodun Essiet, to the state to restore peace and foster intercommunal harmony among communities.

Meanwhile, the SSS recently recaptured Abdulazeez Obadaki, also known as Bomboy, a Kuje Prison escapee accused of masterminding the Owo and Deeper Life Church attacks.

It also recently announced‎ the arrest of nine high‑profile suspects linked to Plateau and Benue violence, including Timna Manjol, who pleaded guilty to illegal possession of firearms.
