Stakeholders beg Sanwo-Olu to establish hospital in Ajah, elevate baale to monarch

Traditional and community leaders in Ajah, Lagos State, have urged the state government led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to establish a general hospital to serve residents with essential healthcare services.
They made the call on Saturday during the 47th birthday of the Baale of Ajah, Ismael Adewale. The leaders also requested his upgrade to a full-fledged oba.
They said the upgrade would attract more development to the community and give it stronger traditional representation.
Mr Adewale stated that a general hospital would ensure timely medical care and improved healthcare access for the growing population in Ajah.
He said, “We need hospitals and better infrastructure. The Ajah under-bridge area is messy and needs urgent attention. We are doing our part to keep the area clean and functioning well. We need more government support.’’
He also called for better security, saying the community had been proactive but needed more security personnel to be deployed by the government.
He stated, “Our people are trying. We are committed to making Ajah safe and liveable for all.’’
The APC chairmanship candidate for Eti-Osa, Biliaminu Akanbi, praised the baale’s leadership and community progress since his installation.
He stated, “Ajah has improved under his leadership. The people love him, and many have gathered today to celebrate his birthday. He treats everyone equally and has brought meaningful development to our community.’’
Mr Akanbi appealed to the government to install the baale as Oba to further boost progress in the Ajah area.
He also commended the community’s strong support, saying it reflected the baale’s vision, dedication, and care for his people.
Secretary General of the Ajah Community, Kazeem Odunlami, thanked the baale for his efforts toward the area’s growth and development.
He said the crowd at the celebration reflected widespread appreciation for his selfless service to the community.
According to him, the baale has personally supported free medical outreach programmes in Ajah on several occasions.
“Our leader has provided regular free health services, which is why we’re calling for a proper general hospital,” Mr Odunlami stated.
He echoed the appeal for the baale’s elevation to oba, saying it would further enhance community development.
Musa Muhammad, from the Arewa community in Ajah, described the baale as welcoming, honest, and development driven.
“Whatever he asks us to do in support of the community, we stand by him,” Mr Muhammad said.
