The executive chairman of the Katsina State Universal Basic Education Board, Kabir Abdullahi-Gafia, has disbursed N18 million to 727 indigent people in Kaita LGA to make the forthcoming Ramadan fast relatively easier for them.

The disbursement was held on Sunday in Kaita town, the headquarters of Kaita LGA.

Speaking at the event, Governor Dikko Radda, represented by the secretary to the state government, Abdullahi Faskari, commended Mr Abdullahi-Gafia.

According to Mr Radda, the cash gift will go a long way toward alleviating beneficiaries’ economic hardship, especially as Ramadan approaches.

He called on the beneficiaries to appreciate the gesture, especially by making proper use of the money and supporting others around them.

The Katsina governor said, “By supporting people around you, this empowerment provided to you will benefit you more than you think. Therefore, you are also expected to remember those around you. This empowerment will complement my administration’s efforts and commitments towards ensuring the well-being of the people, particularly through our empowerment programmes.”

Mr Abdullahi-Gafia said that the money was part of an effort to complement the governor’s commitment, especially to the less privileged.

He expressed hope that the beneficiaries would utilise it during the holy month of Ramadan, saying that people from different categories would benefit from the gesture.

According to him, the gesture will reach less privileged people, people with special needs, traditional and religious leaders, youths, members of the All Progressives Congress, and other stakeholders.

Mr Abdullahi-Gafia added that the gesture was part of his sustained efforts to repay the people for their support for the present administration in the state during the 2023 elections.
