Sultan declares Wednesday Eid-el-Fitr

The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, on Monday, declared Wednesday, April 10, as Eid-el-Fitri.
The information was made known in communiqué signed by the chairman, advisory committee on religious affairs to the Sultanate Council, Prof Sambo Junaidu, which was made available to reporters in Sokoto on Monday evening.
According to Mr Abubakar, the president general of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, the decision was made in response to reports from national moon-seeing committees nationwide that no new moon had been sighted.
The statement read,” His Eminence, the Sultan felicitates with the Nigerian Muslim Ummah and wishes them Allah’s guidance and blessings.
“The Sultan, while urging the Muslim Ummah to continue to pray for peace, progress, and development of the country, also wishes all Muslims a happy Eid-el-Fitri.”
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia had also announced that Eid-el-Fitr will be held on Wednesday April 10, as the crescent of the month of Shawwal has not been sighted in the country.
