Sultan Foundation donates furniture worth N1.2 billion to Kebbi

The Sultan Foundation has secured a donation of school furniture to Kebbi, estimated at over N1.2 billion.
The furniture was formally presented to Governor Nasir Idris at the Bulasa Warehouse, near Birnin Kebbi, on Monday.
The presentation was made by the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar III, in the company of the Emir of Argungu, Sama’ila Muhammadu-Mera.
Mr Muhammadu-Mera, who spoke on behalf of the Sultan, said the donation of 3,785 pieces of furniture was to complement the state government’s efforts in revitalising the education sector in Kebbi.
According to him, the items were procured with the support of an indigene of the state based in Atlanta, USA, Aminu Yaro, alongside some international partners.
Mr Muhammadu-Mera commended the governor for providing N196 million for the shipment and delivery of the items to Nigeria and the state.
He also lauded President Bola Tinubu for approving a N280 million duty waiver that allowed for the duty-free clearance of the furniture.
“The Sultan Foundation is a highly reputable organisation that reflects the esteemed stature of His Eminence both in Nigeria and beyond.
“This is a clear sign that Sultan has Kebbi at heart. We are deeply grateful for your continuous support and leadership,” the governor said.
Mr Idris recalled that the foundation had previously donated medical supplies to the state, assuring that the furniture would be judiciously utilised for the benefit of the people.
He also appealed to the foundation to facilitate more donations of this kind in the future, especially beds, beddings, and other educational materials.
