Kaduna State-based cleric, Ahmad Gumi, has advised President Bola Tinubu to summon U.S. ambassador in Nigeria and demand retraction of President Donald Trump’s threat to invade Nigeria.

“President Tinubu should summon the US ambassador; they either retract their threats or we sever diplomatic ties with this irresponsible regime,” Mr Gumi said in a Facebook post on Sunday.

He stated, “For Trump to threaten a sovereign country with military attack is a profound disrespect to our authority, but we can rise above it.”

The cleric argued that Nigeria could do without diplomatic ties with America, adding that, “There are lots of other options for our economic expansion and military alliance.”

Mr Gumi’s statement came amid Mr Trump’s declaration of Nigeria as a Country of Particular and threat of U.S. soldiers’ deployment to confront killers of Christians in the country Trump orders military preparations for possible offensive invasion of nigeria over christians genocide

Mr Trump’s threat dogged online campaigns by top U.S. lawmakers, including Ted Cruz, Riley Moore, and Nancy Mace over alleged targeted killings of Christians in Nigeria.

The Christian Association of Nigeria also backed the U.S. lawmakers’ position, calling for international intervention.

Following Mr Trump’s order, U.S. Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, announced plans to invade Nigeria to kill off attackers of Nigerian Christians.U.S .department of war begins preparation to invade nigeria over killer herdsmen attack on christians

Responding to Mr Trump’s threat, President Bola Tinubu, who repeatedly denied the genocide theory, said he was ready to work with the American authorities.

Presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, who made the disclosure in a post on X on Sunday, added that Mr tinubu ahead of orchestrated game unfolding in trumps america over alleged christian genocide presidency
