Super Falcons boosted as Oshoala joins camp ahead summer Olympics

Nigerian forward and four-time African Women’s Player of the Year, Asisat Oshoala, arrived at the national team’s training camp in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain on Wednesday afternoon. Her arrival brings the number of players in camp to 15.
Oshoala’s NWSL team, Bay FC, gave her a farewell alongside teammates Rachael Kundananji (Zambia) and a Canadian goalkeeper who are also heading to the Olympics. The trio departed after Bay FC’s 3-0 loss to Washington Spirit. Oshoala has been impressive for her club, scoring three goals and providing one assist this season.
Oshoala joins previously arrived teammates Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, and defenders Chidinma Okeke, Nicole Payne, Osinachi Ohale, and Michelle Alozie. Midfielders Christy Ucheibe, Toni Payne, Deborah Abiodun, Jennifer Echegini, and forward Esther Okoronkwo are also in camp. Rounding out the squad are alternate goalkeeper Morufa Ademola and forward Gift Monday.
The Super Falcons will face the reigning Olympic champions, Canada, in a friendly on July 17th before heading to the Olympics where they’ll face Brazil, Spain, and Japan in Group C.
