Supreme Court affirms election of Governor Inuwa Yahaya

The Supreme Court has affirmed the election of Governor Inuwa Yahaya of the All Progressives Congress.
A five-member panel delivered the verdict of the apex court on Friday in a unanimous decision.
The panel dismissed the appeal by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Mohammed Barde, challenging the outcome of the March 18, 2023, governorship election.
In its lead judgment delivered by Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, the apex court validated the verdicts of the Court of Appeal and the governorship election petitions tribunal.
Both lower courts had ruled that the case the appellants raised against the election lacked merit and wasn’t enough to warrant their verdicts to be set aside.
