Suspect nabbed in case of Bangladeshi woman hammered to death

A Bangladeshi woman, Nilufar Yasmin, has been beaten to death with a hammer at a convenience store in Fort Myers, Florida, United States.
The 48-year-old victim was a mother of two.
Local police said the attack took place around 7:14 a.m. on Thursday, resulting in the suspect’s arrest later that day.
Despite efforts by personnel from the Fort Myers Fire Department and Lee County EMS to rescue Ms Yasmin, who suffered severe injuries, she was declared dead later.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect, Rolbert Joachin, who has a history of mental illness, entered the store and attacked the victim with a hammer.
Mr Joachin, 40, allegedly vandalised a vehicle parked outside the store premises before attacking the woman.
Authorities added that the suspect might be linked to an unsolved homicide that occurred several months ago.
Mr Joachin was taken into custody at the Lee County jail and faces one count of murder with a dangerous, depraved mind without premeditation and one county of property damage to property worth over $1,000.
He is to appear in court on May 4.
Meanwhile, a memorial keeps growing for Ms Yasmin outside of a Fort Myers gas station, with the Bangladeshi community in Florida mourning her death.
