Suspect nabbed with 174 rounds of AK-47 live ammunition in Nasarawa: Police

The police command in Nasarawa says it arrested a suspect, Abubakar Abdullahi, and recovered 174 rounds of AK-47 live ammunition from him along the Toto–Abaji Road.
“On 22nd June 2026, operatives attached to the Toto Division, while on routine patrol along the Toto–Abaji Road, intercepted and arrested one Abubakar Abdullahi, who was found in possession of a large cache of ammunition.
“A thorough search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of one hundred and seventy-four (174) rounds of 7.62mm AK-47 live ammunition concealed in his possession,” the command’s spokesperson, Ramhan Nansel, said in a statement.
He noted that the preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect could not provide a satisfactory explanation for the source, ownership, or intended destination of the ammunition.
Mr Nansel added that the suspect is currently in police custody.
At the same time, an intensive investigation is ongoing to uncover the criminal network behind the illegal movement of the ammunition and apprehend all persons connected to the crime.
