Suspected APC thugs invade Alimosho collation centre
Thugs suspected to be supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Sunday, invaded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) collation centre at Ikotun area of Alimosho local government.
In a now-viral video shared by popular Twitter influencer, Rinu Oduala, one of the collation officers identified as Funmi was seen pleading for help, alleging that APC thugs were beating officials at INEC’s collation center in Ikotun.
“This is Funmi from Alimosho, we are at Ikotun local government and APC people have started beating us here, they have beaten most of our people, they are injuring us here please we need people to come to our rescue,” the lady in the viral video said.
The latest attack comes as reports of violence from various polling units across the country continue to undermine the credibility of the general election on February 25.
On Saturday, there were reports of violence in some polling stations across Lagos. Peoples Gazette reported that a horde of ruling APC supporters attacked its reporter while she was on election duty in Lagos.
The reporter, who covers the metro beat, had her phone briefly confiscated shortly after taking photographs and filming in Orile-Oshodi ward, where rampaging thugs were terrorising polling stations in the city’s central suburb of Oshodi.
However, efforts by The Gazette to contact the police for more information on the attack were futile because the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, was not responding to calls and text messages at the time of filing this report.
