Multiple people are receiving medical treatment on Thursday following reports of a suspected gas leak at Farringdon Station, the British transport police said.

The station was evacuated after a few passengers reported feeling unwell on Thursday morning.

Police said officers were called to the scene at about 9:42 a.m. local time (0842 GMT), with ambulance crews and firefighters also attending.

“We are on scene at Farringdon station following reports of a suspected gas leak, with a small number of passengers reporting feeling unwell,” police said in a statement.

The London Fire Brigade said that two fire engines, two fire rescue units and specialist officers were at the scene, and advised people to avoid the area while emergency services responded.

The National Rail said emergency services were dealing with an incident at the station, with Elizabeth line and Thameslink trains not stopping there.

It said the disruption was expected until 5 p.m. local time (1600 GMT), with major delays and cancellations affecting Thameslink services and some Elizabeth line trains being diverted.
