Suspected motorcycle thief arrested in Jigawa

The Jigawa State police command has arrested a suspected motorcycle thief and recovered a stolen motorcycle through an effective tracing and tracking process in the state.
In a statement on Monday, Lawan Adam, the command’s spokesman, said the arrest followed a report received by the command concerning the theft of a motorcycle from the residence of a complainant at Burtalan Quarters, Dutse LGA.
“Following the report, police operatives commenced the investigation and activated the available tracing process attached to the stolen motorcycle,” he said.
He stated that the tracing operation successfully generated the geographical coordinates of the motorcycle, enabling the police to track and locate it to a house at Unguwar Tsika, Shuwarin Town.
“The motorcycle was subsequently recovered, while one Najib Adamu ‘m’, aged 27 years, of Dutse LGA was arrested in connection with the theft,” Mr Adam said.
He stated that other police operatives, in collaboration with vigilant members of the community, intercepted another stolen motorcycle at Narewa Village.
“The motorcycle had been stolen from the residence of a complainant at Kudai Village, Dutse LGA.
“Upon sighting the police and vigilantes who were acting on intelligence and concerted efforts to recover the stolen motorcycle, the suspected thieves abandoned the motorcycle and fled into a nearby bush,” Mr Adam noted.
He added that despite their escape, the motorcycle was successfully recovered and is currently in police custody, while efforts are ongoing to identify, trace and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
